The Real Cassius Clay
Cassius Marcellus Clay was a statesman and served under both Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses Grant. Cassius Clay was a strong opponent of slavery and greatly involved in the abolitionist movement. He declared, "The Bible, the record of Divine Revelation, is the one book of religion and morals. Of all religious systems the Christian is the most in unison with the law of God and the needs of man. The spirit of God inspires all living things. Jesus Christ is the leading inspiration, and is, therefore Divine."
